Review: Splintered by A.G Howard

Splintered

Rating: 4.8

AMAZON // BOOKDEPO

Synopsis:Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.
When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family.
She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own

My thoughts

Expectations I encountered Splintered early 2012 during a frequent Goodreads browsing. The synopsis was the only thing that got my attention. Keep in mind that the cover was not presented to us yet. The mention of a skater girl got me hooked. A family curse and the mention of madder darker version of wonderland made me fingers clicking happy.I forgot about it (stupid me). Thank goodness I saw the cover on Goodreads months later

Cover: That’s almost how I pictured Alyssa. A cross between the cover and Emily Osment. There is so much detail. Every time I looked at I noticed new details. Easily in the top covers of 2013.

Book: Close to a hundred years or more years ago a young girl named Alice dreamed about a wacky place and was published by a family friend. Ever since then her female descendants have gone insane and died as a result. Alyssa Gardner is her great-great-granddaughter. She too can hear the normally inaudible voices of plants and bugs and is next inline. A chain reacting occurrence happens. ‘’Wonderland exists and Al can save her mom, herself and break the curse but is it really a curse or something else. Nothing is what it seems and maybe Alyssa as well. I WELCOME you TO THE REAL WONDERLAND folks.

Miss Howard’s writing style in splintered is equally part sensual ,dark and mysterious. So dark its sexy,.HAHA. You want to resist but you want more and more. To fly across the pages but take it slow ( I hardly did) and let the enjoyment engross you. I will get madder trough out this review. It was an orgasmic event but of words, places and scenery constructed with those words and many feelings. A wonderful 400 page book.

I read the original Alice and through the looking glass when I was younger. It was a Dutch translations but that does not take away that I loved seeing their dark and altered macabre versions. A lot made sense in a nonsensical way in the end. But every true Netherling knows it takes balance between a raging storm and calm clear water to be ‘’sane’.

The plot was interesting. Mad even. I have to admit some parts might be confusing to some people. Maybe.

.'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

I loved how parts of the Jabberwoc(k) poem is used in the beginning and a portal available through clues, keys and a mirror [anypony knows The Looking Glass, so what if I’m a brony. Broohoof. /)*(\ ]. Smashing. You get twist and turns after turns. Some were predictable and some weren’t. You have the chance to meet hideously beautiful and beautifully hideous characters, creatures and Queens. And Morpheus but more of him later ( if you want to know).

So you wanna be a master. Do you have to skills to be #1. Oops. Sorry I was listening POKe Themes [ ^^] I meant to say do you want to know more about Morpheous. For starters he has blue hair that covers half his face. Has dark or dark grey angelic wings. I admit he was a jerk at multiple times and admits he’s one. He is netherling as kind and charming as Cheshire is cute and adorable.** possible spoiler [But he still needs loving and hopefully someone will love him someday and he will truth fully love that person too.]end spoiler**Despite him being a jerk sometimes , he is a being you want to have on your team.

Jebediah or Jeb is her best friend. I like him a lot . Roro gives Jeb a dude hug [ oowee I have to steady myself to stop these naughty thoughts]. He’s a sk8terboi. Do you remember this song Jeb is very artistic and paints like tim burton directs movies.

Page 127 Al’s narration
‘I think of his watercolor paintings; darkly beautiful worlds and gothic fairies weeping black tears above human corpses, these depictions of misery and loss are so poignant and surreal they break the heart’’.

If that is not artistic I don’t know what is. Jeb is a labret wearing skater dude who listens to punk/alternative rock and paints hauntingly beautiful [ his art pieces are breathtaking in my imagination]. Jeb opens up and finds up and find comfort in the end.

Now the spotlight or rather scribbles of ink are on Alyssa Gardner. She too has artistic abilities. Although she is one of the coolest female main characters she undergoes character growth and development and proud of who she is in the end.

The romance is steamy but still age appropriate [ wish it wasn’t, lil naughty me] I liked the spark between the characters. Every kind of spark there was

My trip is on this journey is over. I wish I could stay longer. Maddening wasn’t it [ eye twitch twitching ]. I hope you fall in love with all the characters that need to be loved and find peace and tranquility between the line of madness. Well guys here are your victims … ahem visitors [ they don’t get a lot of tourist you know]. Enjoy the wonderful mad [ W]underland. [ eye twitch twitching]

Remarks:I only have a minor complaint. There was very little screen time with not a lot of screen time [sad face

songs that fits perfectly with this book and do generate a atmosphere

Alyssa's secret song to Jeb Jeb's secret song to Al <3

Alyssa and Jeb stepping into the heart of Wonderland and seeing all the strange sights

Alyssa to Morpheus; torn between her mistrust of him and her attraction to the darkness and power he brings out in her Morpheus's theme song

Alyssa at book’s end; embracing who she is and facing her future

Review: Legend of the Oceina Dragon by J.F Jenkins

The Dragons Saga: Legend of the Oceina Dragon
by J.F. Jenkins
Published    Astraea Press
Date Publication:  February 22nd 2011
Rating: 3.5/5

Synopsis:  Darien Oceina is the youngest son of the Great Dragon Lord of the Water. For years he¹s loved and cherished Tai Dawson from afar. Tai is a simple, ordinary girl who doesn¹t even know Darien exists. On his eighteenth birthday, he chooses her as his wife. But there’s one problem: She thinks his choice means she¹s going to be offered as a sacrifice to the Dragon Lord, but instead, she’s forced to move to his home, far away, to give up her life and be his bride.
When she first sees Darien after the ceremony, she doesn’t expect to feel anything but hatred toward him. The two are struggling with the complications of a new marriage when their nation is attacked by a rival dragon species. Together they learn to love one another while they struggle to stay one step ahead in a game where the prize is their survival.

My thoughts

Cover: I'm loving it. Yes it is not published by a big publisher and maye the cover is cover abusted out there, but this is exactly how I pictured Tai and Darien. On of my new beloved fictional couples

Book: I signed up for the tour of book two after i found i could read book 1. I took a leap of faith.I could have hated these books.Happy to have read it.

Once upon a time the Great Lord created dragons to protect mankind. 4 types of dragons. 4 different elements

We see Tai, a young lady, around 18 years of age living on a small island in Oceina territory.Wondering why dragons are following her since the age of 13 ish or at least she thinks they are following her in daily routine of life. Her mom tells her that she's been chosen as a sacrifice to the grear oceina dragon. Sacrifices are not uncommon. But is this really a sacrifice?

The writing was easy to follow and not too simplistic like a certain book i read this year. The world building was good but got confused a bit. It is a modern world. They have cell phones but the writing gave me old world, Medieval feel.

It has a dual narration . Tai and Darien POV. But this darien's story.

Darien around the same age as Tai in years. Not human years. He's a dragon, the youngest son of the Oceina lord and touched. What do you think that is?? Water is his element. The element of Oceina. Very kind but the oddball in the family. Members of the family despise him for what he's done. It was not his fault. His birth

Tai was not a kick butting girl. Just a normal girl in and a wall flower in her eyes and can't seem to understand why Darien sees in her.I quite liked her bit bitchy towards Darien but she falls for Darien in the end.

The romance was great. It was real.I was happy they supported each other in the end. It was more adult than YA . New adult.

Felt the loss , the pain of losing a loved one. Politically involved.Enemy caused. A neighboring tribe, a different species. The Inero, FIRE. But are they the real enemy

I quite liked it. Love shifters, love dragons, LOVE dragon shifters.I immediately began reading book two

Falling In Between book tour: Review

Falling In Between (Falling #1)
by Devon Ashley
Published : self published
Date Publication:   February 14th 2012
Rating 3.5/5

Synopsis: Finally! A private conversation. And all I had to do was throw myself off a cliff, drown in a pond in my undies and let him put his hands on my breasts to bring me back to life. Yay me! (yeah, that’s sarcasm)
Yep, that pretty much sums up the most craptastic night of Jenna Baker’s life. She drowns after jumping off a cliff, meets a hotty named Chance in the pearlescent in-between and is brought back to life by her soon-to-be boyfriend Robert.
Just when things start to move forward with Robert, the guy she'd been crushing on for a year now, in walks the man of her dreams – literally. Chance suddenly appears in her dream every time she closes her eyes. So it's Robert by day and Chance by night. One in the real world and one in the dream world. What could possibly go wrong?
Absolutely nothing – until she comes face to face with the guy she met in the in-between, and realizes her romantic rendezvous with Chance may be more than just her imagination.
Mature YA. Recommended for older teenagers.

My thoughts

Cover: The cover is pretty i admit that and the dream like state kind of smoke. But the blurb intrigued me to be part in this tour

Book: The blurb intrigued me what i already stated. It was a fun book.

It all starts when Jenna and her Bff go gliff diving [ pretty stupid right] . Goes down and hit's her head. Enters a place. The in between and meets Chance and a short time later  is pulled from the in between and and on earth again. Wet and receiving CPR. Mouth on mouth by Robert. A dude she's been crushing on like ages. Chance at Night and  Robert during the Day.

This was a fun book. A lot of romance . It felt like a contemporary woven with  paranormal touches.I dislike love tiangles in general but this one was fun . And a good book after a heart and tear jerker i read before touching this.

Give it a try

Review: Article 5 by Kristen Simmons

Article 5 (Article 5 #1)
by Kristen Simmons
Published by Tor Teen
Date Publication : January 31st 2012
Rating: 4/5

Synopsis: New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., have been abandoned.
The Bill of Rights has been revoked, and replaced with the Moral Statutes.
There are no more police—instead, there are soldiers. There are no more fines for bad behavior—instead, there are arrests, trials, and maybe worse. People who get arrested usually don't come back.
Seventeen-year-old Ember Miller is old enough to remember that things weren’t always this way. Living with her rebellious single mother, it’s hard for her to forget that people weren’t always arrested for reading the wrong books or staying out after dark. It’s hard to forget that life in the United States used to be different.
Ember has perfected the art of keeping a low profile. She knows how to get the things she needs, like food stamps and hand-me-down clothes, and how to pass the random home inspections by the military. Her life is as close to peaceful as circumstances allow.
That is, until her mother is arrested for noncompliance with Article 5 of the Moral Statutes. And one of the arresting officers is none other than Chase Jennings…the only boy Ember has ever loved.

My thoughts

Cover:One of my Love at First sightcovers.Crumbled socity and it's perfectly pictured. A teenage girl and a boy on a hill and what looks like a wartorn Chicago is in sight down below.

Book:The cover drew[but you all know that right now ^-^]since i saw it last year early august.I was pinning to read was so happy to see there were arc giveaways but 99% of those only USA allowed so i took matters into my own hands and emailed a review request to Tor publishing and fingers crossed of course. So happy they aproved[ a e-arc is still an arc]It was worth the trouble[ asking and wishing]

Wartorn America. Everything changed.Crumbled cities, broken down houses and broken lives. The bill of rights are condemned and the moral statues are declared.Say adieu to freewill.

With the SOPA/PIPA and now ACtA ; controlling the new for 'our own good'.Article 5 seems very real and could happen in the near future. No nature disasters but a war caused the fall, the doctrine. Realistically scary is the world building. The writing was so so aaah.I imagined every scene clearly.

Ember a 17 year old [i so love that name] in violation of article 5 is taken[imprisoned] and brought to a rehabilitation center. Scared as heck but grew immensely within her being scared she became fiery and would do everything in her being to escape , survive.

Chase a broken down soldier. The one who imprisoned her under direct orders.I would jump into this tale to just to say 'Everything is stark and dark right now but things will be OK , don't know when but it's gonna be OK, there's a silver lining out there'.

There love is what i call true love no matter how rocky and bumpy it was believe you me , it was.And not a wishy-washy YA insta-love.Discovering secrets that can hurt both. Her trying to trust and love him all over again.

I highly recommend Article 5.A dystopia what could be real in not so far future. A good thing today is Article 5's book birthday[ trows internet confetti]Hope you all check it out

thanks to Tor teen for approving my request

songs that fits perfectly with this book and do generate a atmosphere.

Across the Universe (Across the Universe #1)
by  Beth Revis
Published by Razorbill
Date Published  January 11th 2011 [paprback   November 29th 2011 ]
Rating: 4.5/5

Synopsis:  Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.
Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone - one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship - tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn't do something soon, her parents will be next.
Now, Amy must race to unlock Godspeed's hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there's only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming

My thoughts

Cover: The cover is ok. Precisely how I imagined Amy. However the Hardcover is my favorite.

Book: A bookish friend gifted and ordered AtU[Across the Universe] for me at the bookdepository. Thanks Shelaugh

amy was on earth

Now she's frozen.Cryrogenically Frozen

She should be asleep but she's not.Mostly wake in cold frozen lifeless body. She wants to scream but can't. And almost 300 years onboard Godspeed. But out of nowhere she's thawing, alive again and unfrozen. What?? why?? how??

There are some spoilers in this review but hidden like so Example given

Atu was exiting, romantic, perilous, a mystery. I quite Loved it.Liked how Amy and Elder's chapters were so different.Heck there from two different world you could say.Literally.

The first 100 pages were ok. Just ok. BUT after the 100 page mark.It got better, splendor more spirited

I did not despise her but not really liked her at first. But along the way I started to feel for her , to care for and got a thing for Red heads<*wink*wink*^-^[what i love gingers]

I was so happy to 'meet' Elder. I know we could be best budds[me crazy right.I just have that'Was up buddie' feeling] He was not just a romantic interest but a well rounded character. He loves to learn.Has the right "stuff" to be a great leader. I know your scared at times. But you can do it Elder. You can do it Bro. Cause I 'believe' in you. Ya hear.

I loved the romance[I'm a male hopeless romantic]Loved the trust between Amy and Elder that came into existence. Him telling her that her that he did it, unfreezing her.Keeping a secret is never good. I hope Amy can forgive him

Other characters

Harley was artistic artist. A bit loony when he was in the 'zone. Lol

I imagined him using paint brushes to paint. Seeing in front of me him finishing the Koi painting; vibrant red in cool blue cooling water . And great best friend material. A true friend. I bro <3 harley.Sad he died. Knew you died, knew   not how you were going to die.Did not see that coming. Feeling emotionally right now typing this. But glad the wonderful Mrs Revis thought you up.He I feel a bit better i'll get to know more about your girlfriend who sad died as well in book two and maybe more about you

The villain was villainous. The person who I though was doing the killing was not the killer.DUDE DUDE,OMG REALLY

Other noteworthy characters
Orion
Eldest
The feeders
People in the ward

So SO glad i got the chance to read it AtU. And ecstatic to read AMS[A Million Suns]Hope i win money soon so that i can order it pls pls LUCK[ American and Uk piblished book are not sold or limited in bookstores here. Mostly dutch and YA section is not existent]

This is an 100% honest review

Not An Angel book tour: review

This is one of the  stops of this booktour. Not an Angel was really charmingly sweet and romantic
First to introduce the author. Here is the book tour schedule

Not An Angel (A Poryria Vampire Novel (Book 1))
by Dawn Chartier
Published by  Bayou Black Publishing
Date Published September 11th 2011
Rating: 4/5

Synopsis: Kira McCoy wants to die. Losing her husband and daughter tragically left her without hope. Now her disturbed brother-in-law will stop at nothing to have her for himself. All she wants is to find peace, but instead finds herself on top of a bridge ready to end her suffering.
Protector of the Poryria, Trace Stuart is called to defend his race or embrace death. Defending humans is not part of the plan, but he cannot stop himself from saving Kira.
Realizing that he shares a special bond with Kira, Trace defies his Queen and rushes into the heart of darkness in order to rescue the woman he loves. Will Kira be able to reach past her own pain to pull them both into the light?

My thoughts

Cover: It's a Ok-ish cover. It screams 'FIERCE'. Somewhat how i imagined Trace.

Book:When i saw tour stops were needed i immediately replied "I'm in" or something in that context.Glad i got the chance to read it.

Kira,a broken woman a broken life, standing and jumping of a bridge.Thinking "Let me die". She's rescued by a mysterious being.Awoken at the hospital! How? A strangly wonderful man appears in dreams, in her life.

I have to say this 80% and up{guessing here] charming and sweet romance however it's a Mature read and not recommend to younger readers. Some scenes tho limited are steamy ahem ahem scenes.

Kira, a previous mother can handle herself and does not let people in after what happened.

Trace, a raven-black haired[^_^] male specimen and lost someone or more as well.Does not after what happened until he meets her. LOVed that he was protective and caring towards his loved ones. NOT effeminate at all. catch my drift

Both leading roles, Kira and Trace have painful pasts and lost love ones. They found strength in each other. huge thumbs up (^-^)b Smiley I liked that Kira and Trace grew and fell in love.

The romance was lovable and sweet Smiley and the "doing" it scenes were interesting HahaSmiley

Other characters

Mikal, Mike for short was a great brother, Trance's younger brother. A srong family bond.

The "villain"?! was interesting hoping to see more of him.

The ending was sweet and round up pretty well. It could perfectly well be a standalone. Glad it isn't. I did not have high expectations going into this but glad i did. Hoping to read more soon. I highly recommend it and it's not that pricey at all.

all the smiles are from freesmileys.org

This was an 100% honest review

Fits perfectly with Kira and Trace

Not An Angel book tour: guest post

This is one of the  stops of this booktour. Not an Angel was really charmingly sweet and romantic
First to introduce the author. Here is the book tour schedule

About the Author:Dawn Chartier never knew she wanted to be a writer while growing up.  Sure her parents owned a book shop, and she was surrounded by bookworms, but she wasn’t one of “those” writers who started early.  No, Dawn was inspired by strange events in her life, one was a bitch named, Katrina. Yes, that hur-ricane. But a few months before the storm, Dawn read an article on Marie Laveau in the New Orleans local newspaper and it sparked an idea. She began researching the voodoo priestess, and then Katrina hit. Out of destruction, ideas formed, characters spoke and plots twisted. One thing lead to another and an author was born. (Must have been something in the air, because a few authors were born out of Katrina’s wrath.) Dawn Chartier sold her first paranormal romance book, (Not An Angel) to The Wild Rose Press, and her second book, a contemporary erotic romance (Diamonds) to Siren BookStrand. Dawn is a member of RWA, Sola-Writers, FF&P and Savvy Authors. You can find her chatting on Twitter and Facebook when she’s not buried inside of a book or writing her next one. Dawn lives near New Orleans with her husband, two daughters, two golden retrievers, and plenty of wildlife. Visit her on dawnchartier.com or dawntheauthor.blogspot. com like her on FB  or stalk her on twitter

Hosted by bewitchingbooktours.

Hi RoRo and readers,
Thank you for having me today.   I’ve been on a week-long book tour for NOT AN ANGEL, and it’s been one helluva’ ride. I’ve talked about all sorts of things, but today I just want to relax and be myself.
I was reading a magazine at lunch time today and I found a few articles that were interesting to me.  One was a do’s and don’ts article. I don’t know about you, but I hate those.  Seems like when I try out the do’s, then they say, don’t.  I can’t keep up.  I remember the big hair days in the early 80’s, and the Z Cavaricci balloon looking jeans that everyone had to have.  Baggy at the top and tight, tight around the ankles.  Like I said, I could never keep up. (I can’t believe we wore those. And no that is not me. Blah!)

So, I continued through to the next page and read an article about childhood star crushes. I know I’ll give my age away, but I had a huge crush on Leif Garrett, Shawn Cassidy, Rick Springfield, and Scott Baio to name a few. My sister crushed on Donny Osmond. Google them to see their old picks.  It must have loved long hair or something, because they all had it.

(Isn’t Scott a cutie!)
So who did you crush on in high school?
p.s. I wanted to announce that I have a new release out next week.  Diamonds will be released from Siren Bookstrand.  And also, if anyone here is near New Orleans on March 2-4, 2012 I will be at a conference in New Orleans called. Fantasy On The Bayou. (www.fantasyonthebayou.blogspot.com)   Guest speaker is, Karen M. Moning, one of my favorite authors!
So your crush was? (Here is a little eye candy for you that’s a little more up to date).

Top of 2011- day 3

A Life Bound by BooksConfessions of a BookaholicTwo Chicks on Booksand Fiktshun came up with this great idea to celebrate the books we have read in 2011.

he all day 3 and halfway trough this event :(. it's hosted by those lovely ladies.

bookish boyfriends of 2011 in no paricular order. Fictional boys girls should be thinking about[in no particular order i did not have the heart to do so]

Patrick O’Donnell, 18 yr old ''human'' Irish student[love the Irish, ha ha] he's smart, loves literature and is so mature probably cause of  his ''age'. He is guidance for her.Kate that is.

Dylan Kennedy,a 17 yr old brave , sarcastic , caring, just all round nice guy with a troubled past and who feels something is different about him. Is brave or stupid enough to rescue the girl of his dreams, literally.Kera

Ryan Beckford, a sport stud who has an eye on Kat Colvin. The 'freak' with blazing red hair but can not be with her, family issues that all i'm saying.Kind, and caring ,to kind to be in his group of ''friends''.

Caleb our leading male and love interest has dreadlocks and reminds me of a younger non vines tarzan. He may seem like a brute, heck he and his gang are living in the bewilderment what once was the US. He is kind ,can survive, is brave. a other great one.

Christian Knight, loves sport, but is not consumed by it and not a jerk. He ‘s kind, charming, a bit overprotective at times but you will soon learn why. I think girls need a real fictional male in their life and no effeminate edwardy boy.

Darius is a raw dude, you could say brute but do u know any gentle dragons in general i think not. He's loyal to his place of birth, Atlantis. Yes Atlantis, the mythical city. And will do everything to protect his bride, people and kingdom.

Evan is the polar opposite of Archer but they still fit together. In way or another he's the calming force in Archer's life which he desperately needs. And shows Archer the light, not that light =i'm dying light lol, but being manipulated and lied to.

Tanner Lange is great dude, a computer geek[Nerdfigheria]. He's in a wheelchair, the result of terrifying accident but that does not bring him down, He is as happy as ever. I think quite some people find him Hawt.including me<---highlight to see.  A hot nerd, a great thing in the ''ooh so perfect'' YA male population. He defends Abby which i admire

Matthias is the guardian angel of abbria, zoe's autistic lil sister. And zoe is starting to get
feelings for him. Matthias is like the warmth of the sun hugging you[cheazy right but true] He 's caring and could be the ideal family man, father, husband if not for him being dead and immortal. His old language use of a century ago is really sweet.

Could not think of number 10

So that were my "Real'' fictional boys this year. Who did you choose?

My thoughts

Cover: A really likeable cover. The raven give it a ominous, something is lurking feel. I know don’t judge a book by its cover and have to say yes the Dude angel and raven got my attention.

Book: The book tour signup was posted on YA Bound. I immediately signed up because On a dark wing was on my wish list and for me as an Int books are hard to come by. This is a 4 stars review. I think I just lucky reading great and good books after each other

A horrible accident happened a few years ago. Abby survived, her mom didn’t. She got ‘’lucky’’. And Death does not forget

Abby, our leading lady was not appreciate to her dad and Tanner, her best friend. Probably cause of the accident. I did not feel for her but after a while you feel her honesty and such and started to like her.

Tanner Lange, is our co protagonist and best friend a computer genius and in a wheelchair. But a hot nerd. I’ve to say I’m pretty good looking myself ha ha [ego boast lol]. I really really really really really[ ok enough really’s lol] liked him and you can ‘’taste and feel’’ his love and friendship towards Abby in the ‘air’’

Nate is a very important character and co narrator. A popular and boy next door type. He was ok , I did not get to feel his ‘’him’’ , his ‘’soul’[pretty philosophical right, lol] although loved his interaction with his little sister zoey . A great big brother.

And Death, that’s his name ; nothing less or more. I felt a little pity , I said a little pity c’mon he’s the death. His loneliness and how he sees the us..

This book was in 3th person and 3 pov’s ; Abby, Tanner and Nate. Liked all of their voices especially Tanner. I liked his chapters the most. There were emotional scenes but did not feel at times and liking Abby at first decreased the rating. This is a paranormal Young adult with a touch, a dazzle of contemporary. Liked the raven after each chapters pictured.

There is love, a lot. Parental[Yay , the parents are present , sisterly- brotherly and friendship and of course romance. There’s infatuation but that’s a other thing. Love the relationship of Abby and her dad after it strengthened. And romance with the person you don’t expect. I found the perfect song

I’m glad I had this experience and would love to read her other books.

Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin Teen for approving my request. And YA bound for letting my partake in booktour. This an 100% honest review

A song that fits perfectly with this book and does generate a atmosphere.

Review: Legacy by Molly Cochran, Witchy Massachusetts

Legacy
by Molly Cochran
Published by Simon & Schuster/Paula Wiseman Books
Date Published: December 20th 2011
Rating : almost a 4/5  [3.8 ]

Synopsis: When her widowed father dumps 16-year-old Katy Jessevar in a boarding school in Whitfield, Massachusetts, she has no idea that fate has just opened the door to both her future and her past. Nearly everyone in Whitfield is a witch, as is Katy herself, although she has struggled all her life to hide her unusual talents. Stuck at a boarding school where her fellow students seem to despise her, Katy soon discovers that Whitfield is the place where her mother committed suicide under mysterious circumstances when Katy was just a small child. With dark forces converging on Whitfield, it's up to Katy to unravel her family's many secrets to save the boy she loves and the town itself from destruction.

My thoughts

Cover: This cover is one of my favorites, the color scheme. The fog in the upper right corner and Peter and Katy coming down the stairs, dunno put I think it depicts a scene.

Book: I saw this earlier in the year , added it to read and forgot totally about it. In a Simon Shuster galley grab [what’s that ?, info galley grab] it felt familiar . Downloaded and forgot it again. Time past and there were only 12 hours left to read it, I challenged myself and read it nonstop with small breaks in 10 hours. Proud of myself , don’t get worried I’m in my winter break now. School work has not been affected.

Katherine Jessivar gets dumped at a boarding school in Whitfield, Massachusetts by her father, Harrison Jessivar, and his new girlfriend. . To burden her more every kid at her new school hates her. Because she’s an Ainsworth. Takes in the start of the school year.

Katy felt flat for me bu after the 200 mark started to care a bit by bit. At the moment when she admitted her real name I really liked her.

Peter is tortured, I can’t spoil but what a tortured boy he was, his heritage was a contributor. He was not the swooniest male protagonist, somewhat charming but liked him. I did not know why there were attracted to each other after disliking each other for a while there in love; a minor insta- love. I said a minor. There was love and less lust, said less. That does not mean not existed. They almost di……

Heck I had them around me for 1 to 400 pages, they grow on you. That was less positive for me.

There were no real parental figures present. They tried their best to be that but a couple characters came close. Her dad, he himself detaches from her emotionally but progressed but not enough for me.

Whitfield is strange and weird, the people seem olden time like and frequently mysterious fog appears in the meadow. This is a paranormal Young Adult. It’s about witches not harry potter's secret world . Just a normal town where a large part is descended from the them. I liked the world building. Everything is nature based. Everywhere there’s magic they reminded me a lot of druids

in the alban field, the circling mist twists low
kith and kin draw the Botte on crafted bow.
Arise,great Arrow-swift as sparrow,sprung from below
the kindred wave gathers to lose what is hidden.
cast line and hook to slpit the stony mizzen
one door wakes one thousand more when Craftily bidden
the wise and crafty know rightly where to look
o word!sping forth from out thy secret nook
Fierce Ferraugh diten al blosun na tibuk

The chapters look like a old book and are in time slots in coordination with wiccan holidays. A thing I disliked was the 200 pages of not a lot of action Because It took 200 pages before the real peril appeared. Named the Darkness, a entity not to be fooled with. I almost quit two times but now looking back for me at least those 200 pages were needed. Back-story, anecdotes type things, getting two no more about the characters.

There’s turmoil between families, in her family and mistrust. I liked how Miss Cochran did that. The digging and bringing secrets to light of her mom’s life, the town and prominent ancestors of Whitfield that where linked back Katy.

The Darkness was a great bad ''guy''.

I have to say there are mixed review mine is more on the positive side It was pretty decent . I liked it and glad I had this experience. Have this left t say "Magic lies within"

A song that fit perfectly with this book and they do generate a atmosphere

Fits with the air and everything around Whitfield when the fog is present

Fractured Light Book Tour : Review

Fractured Light
by Rachel McClellan
Published by Sweetwater Books
Date Published: February 8th 2012
Rating: 5/5
Synopsis: I’m dying, I thought. This was unexpected and not at all how I envisioned my death. I was supposed to die gardening in a flowerbed as a hundred-year-old woman, not as a seventeen-year-old trapped in a lake beneath inches of ice.
Llona Reese is used to living on the run. After the Vykens killed her parents, she knew they would eventually come for her too. She can’t take any chances. But when she starts to make friends for the first time in her life, she gets careless and lets her guard down. Big mistake.
As an Aura, Llona can manipulate light and harness its energy. But if she wants to survive, Llona will have to defy the Auran Council and learn to use her power as a weapon against the Vyken whose sole desire is to take her light. Now she’s caught in something even bigger than she can understand, with a power she can’t wield, and no one she can trust, except, just maybe, a mysterious stranger.
In this breathtaking and romantic adventure, Rachel McClellan delivers a truly mesmerizing story that will keep you guessing to the very end.

My thoughts

Cover: Like the cover a lot. Llona ‘s ability is shown. I love when publishers do that. But it is not how I imagined her though.

Book: This my 2nd book from cedar fort I’ve read. I got to say there pretty dam good.[sorry 4 the curse word]. My 1st booktour was a success . I reviewed Seers. The review linky. I saw it on netgalley . I was intrigued. I made a freaking great decision.

Llona Reese, our leading lady. 17 yrs [if I remember correctly. Human but something special in side of her. She is a Aura, female individual who can bend manipulate lights in her veins, her dna ,her being . Aura’s are supposed to be gentle and comforting. Llona is that but more she is active, not a pushover and tries to be brave

The book begins at the start of her senior year at High Land High.
There she meets Christian Knight a new athlete at the school, our leading a male, friend and romantic interest. Y’all probably thinking cliché, red alert, red alert ,insta love!! Well you’re wrong. Yes there is romance but no insta love. Love emerges steadily and steadily in the book, their relationship.

Christian loves sport, but is not consumed by it and not a jerk. He ‘s kind, charming, a bit overprotective at times but you will soon learn why. I think girls need a real fictional male in their life. No effeminate edwardy boy.

Other characters
May, Matt and Adam are great friends and 2nd characters. You would be lucky to have such friends in real life

Yes. The parental figures were present. Jake Reece her 26 yr old uncle was a example. He was fun, a game freak/enthusiast and a role model.

Other than aura’s there where
Guardians: protectors of Aura’s. Male humans not as vulnerable as normal males.

Vykens: evil shadowy flesh like creatures, dark pools of eyes. 100% evil. They reminded me of local lore; Asemas, shadowy being with fiery burning eyes who drink blood like vamps do.

This is a 1st person narrative .Llona pov. The beginning was a bit slow, the first 50 pages I rated it almost a 4 at that point. But then page 194,195 arrived and it passed the 4, 45. The ending gave it a boast towards a 5 star rating. My love is different for this book , not like mythos academy or rapture but still love.

I am eagerly awaiting book 2. Man I have to wait till 2013.

Thank you netgalley and cedarfort in accepting my review request. This is a 100 % honest review

sorry if i offended any twi fan
